“To avoid making the simple difficult”. This is the principle of the Danish architect and designer Hans Haugaard and is the reason why many of his designs are based on geometric figures. This principle is also applied to the new Randers chair Pentagon. The spectator immediately notices the clear primary form of the furniture: a pentagon shape folded into a quadrant, bent backwards and then emphasized with a round cut. The result is an inviting and clever plywood shell with the surprice element of sublime simplicity.

The silk mat beech, which the chair is made of, gives it warmth and life. It radiates R. Randers high level of quality. The Danish furniture manufacturer combines the spectacular shell with a light steel tube frame. The legs are positioned far apart and so harmonize spatially with the plywood shell. With its low weight and its visual lightness this unique chair is applicable for flexible use. No matter where the chair is situated, it unfolds its specialty: Waiting gets comfortable not tiresome, a meeting becomes relaxing and the creative respite from one’s labour grows pleasant.
