Designed by Alberto Meda, this chair is flexible and comfortable. It follows the movements of the body without recourse to com-plicated mechanisms under the seat. Meda Chair successfully combines comfort, technology and a new approach to aesthetics.
Technical description
With the Meda Chair a synchronous process is set in motion when the user moves - without the usual synchronous mechhanism. Two pivots at the side cause the back of the chair to drop; at the same time the shape of the seat changes.
This process is controlled by means of a pneumatic spring combined with a spiral spring, located between the back of the chair and the bridge, underneath the seat. This spring allows for free movement, or, in the revolving office version of the chair, can be locked in place at the touch of a button. The height can also be set at the press of a button. The upholstery is stretch-supported over the frame, ensuring that both backrest and seat have elasticity.
In Meda Chair, design and stability are particularly at one with each other. Vitra offer various different seat and backrest com-binations: double mesh, leather or fabric. The armrest grips are covered in leather, to harmonise with the aluminium bridge.
